Nostalgic memories of Hindi songs - in the voice of Dr. C. V. Naik

I was born in an era when Hindi film industry was prospering thanks to its popular music. The meaningful words of the lyricists, the melodious tunes by the music directors, and the songs sung by some of the greatest singers in the Hindi film industry left me spellbound, and singing became my passion. I never had time to formally learn singing, but it has been my favorite hobby. Now, after retirement, I have attempted to sing some of my favorite songs in my own voice. Hope you enjoy.

Here is one of my favorite inspirational patriotic songs beautifully sung by Mohammed Rafi and H. Khan Mastana from the film Shaheed (1948). The lyrics is by Qamar Jalalabadi depicting the sacrifice by our freedom fighters and the music is composed by Ghulam Haider.

This song, Jara Saamne To Aao Chhaliye from the movie Janam Janam Ke Phere, was the topmost song of 1957 in the radio program Binaca Geetmala. It is a melodious composition sung by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar. The music is composed by S.N Tripathi. He was a versatile artist - a mandolin player, writer, actor (in 27 films), singer, music director (in 80 films) and film director (in 18 films).
