I was born in an era when Hindi film industry was prospering thanks to its popular music. The meaningful words of the lyricists, the melodious tunes by the music directors, and the songs sung by some of the greatest singers in the Hindi film industry left me spellbound, and singing became my passion. I never had time to formally learn singing, but it has been my favorite hobby. Now, after retirement, I have attempted to sing some of my favorite songs in my own voice. Hope you enjoy.
Mohammed Rafi is my most favorite singer. He was probably the most versatile of all, who could sing romantic songs, sad songs, devotional songs, and classical songs in high or low pitch with equal ease. Here is a favorite one from the 1955 film "Railway Platform". The music was composed by Madan Mohan.
Here is one of my favorite songs of Talat Mahmood from the 1955 film Bara-Dari, composed by Nashad. Talat had soft, silken voice with vibrations which enhanced the quality of ghazals he sang with emotions.
